Eric Stone walks away from his flooded 1991 Plymouth Lazer. Stone was going to work around 5:40 a.m. when he drove into the flooded area of the road and couldn't continue. Stone says he didn't see the other stranded vehicle until it was too late, because it was dark outside.
Stone said he called Hood's Towing Inc. telling them he was in three feet of water. Two hours later, Chris Hood, of Hoods Towing, arrived and told Stone that Hood's boss said that "under no circumstances" can he bring the tow truck into the water. Hood then said he'd do it anyway for $100 plus the usual $60 towing fee plus $2 per mile.
Stone refused.
"I ain't giving him an extra 100 bucks," he said.
